AN ORCHARD IN LINCOLNSHIRE

Two magnificent walnut trees, perhaps one hundred and fifty years old, are what remains of an orchard that once flourished in the grounds of a C17th manor house in a small village tucked in tight to the Lincolnshire Wolds.

The brief for making anew the orchard was create a scheme that would have tripartite centres focusing on the two walnuts and an ancient apple tree.

“An explosion! An explosion of colour.” comprised the full details of the brief.

With a medley of traditional to orchard trees; vines and soft fruits, the colour will erupt from a rich under planting of bulbs, swathes of mass planted perennials running into species rich meadows through which soft, informal paths will be cut.

The project is ongoing.
